Overview

Joined the tech team at Sindonews in 2014 to redesign and relaunch their entire media platform across multiple touchpoints including Progressive Web App (PWA), Mobile Site, and Desktop. This comprehensive redesign has been successfully used until now and has become the product foundation for the holding company's other major online media properties including Okezone.com and iNews.id.

The Problem

Sindonews needed a complete platform redesign to modernize their digital presence and create a scalable solution that could serve as the foundation for multiple media brands within the holding company. The challenge was to create a flexible yet consistent system that would work across different devices and platforms while maintaining high performance and user engagement.

The Solution

We developed a comprehensive design system and multi-platform solution that included Progressive Web App (PWA) for modern web experiences, optimized Mobile Site for accessibility, and Desktop version for in-depth reading. The design focused on creating a unified reading experience across all platforms while ensuring fast load times, intuitive navigation, and engaging content presentation. The system was built to be scalable and adaptable for other media brands in the holding company.

Design Output

Sindonews.com V1 — Shaping the Channel & Article Experience

As a UI/UX contributor on the first version of Sindonews.com, I was directly involved in shaping how readers navigated and consumed news across the platform. This included key decisions on the channel homepage layout (how news categories were organized and surfaced), the article detail page structure, overall page layout patterns used across the site, and the news photo gallery experience.

My involvement here went beyond visual execution, these were structural decisions about how content would be organized and presented at scale across a high-traffic news platform.

Sindonews.com V2 — A Research-Driven Redesign

For the second redesign of Sindonews.com, my involvement went deeper, from layout decisions down to the article detail experience, this time grounded directly in research rather than assumption. Market and user needs at the time shaped every major layout decision.

I was directly involved in the UX research itself, conducting in-depth interviews with selected users to understand their real reading behavior and needs. The findings from that research directly informed the layout and article detail decisions that shipped in this version.

Branded Microsite Landing Pages: Driving Direct Revenue for Sindonews.com

Beyond the core news platform, I was heavily involved in building branded microsites, dedicated landing pages created for paid advertising campaigns with brands partnering with Sindonews.com. These weren't simple ad banners; each microsite was a standalone campaign experience commissioned by the partner brand for the duration of their collaboration, directly tied to the brand's marketing objectives.

I was involved end-to-end: from the initial concept and creative direction, through UI/UX design, to final production and launch of each landing page. Because these microsites were paid, recurring engagements running for the length of each brand partnership, they became a direct, measurable revenue stream for the company — every new landing page built meant new paid business secured, not just added content.
