As Lead Product Designer at PT Bukit Teknologi Digital, I hosted an internal tech talk to demystify what Product Design and UI/UX actually involve — beyond visuals and wireframes. The session walked colleagues across the organization through the design ecosystem and design system we've built to support a growing portfolio of enterprise products in the mining industry. Rather than a purely theoretical talk, this was a transparent look at how design decisions, systems thinking, and cross-functional collaboration have directly contributed to the successful, on-time delivery of products used across the business — and the commercial impact that followed.
This talk wasn't just a walkthrough of what Product Design does, it was told through a real, ongoing transformation. When I joined, the company's product portfolio had grown into a dozen-plus applications with no shared documentation, no unified design system, and product lifecycles that varied wildly depending on which external vendor had built which product. The result was fragmentation: inconsistent experiences, duplicated effort, and unpredictable delivery.
I walked the audience through how we fixed it, introducing a structured product lifecycle in an open company forum, running PRD-writing workshops so every request starts with clear requirements, building a Jira-based Kanban system to track every design request end-to-end, and establishing a single design system now shared across the entire product portfolio. I also shared how adopting Agile and Lean UX practices changed the way the design team works day-to-day.
The session closed with the results: design delivery accelerated roughly 200% across 12+ products with a lean team, products now regularly reach "ready for development" ahead of deadline, and the company has fully adopted the new product lifecycle as its standard way of building.
I'm always excited to collaborate with teams and individuals who value thoughtful, user-centered design. If you're hiring, or have a project in mind, let's talk.
